Our Veterinarians
Dana Anholzer, DVM
Veterinarian, Medical Director
Meet Dr. Dana Anholzer! She received her bachelor’s degree in animal and veterinary science from Clemson University in 2009 and completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2013. When she’s not working, Dr. Anholzer enjoys traveling, video games, camping, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs (Ramona and Gimli) and two cats (Richard & Herman).

Areas of Special Interest:
- Surgery – Efficient soft tissue surgeon with experience including but not limited to spays and neuters, mass removals, cystotomies, and laceration repair
- Dentistry – Skilled in digital dental X-ray, surgical flap extractions, oral mass removals, and preventative dental care
- Preventative Care – From puppies and kittens to senior pets and everything in between, we put a focus on the human/animal bond and individualized care.
- Sees pocket pets such as ferrets, Guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, and rabbits
Erika Boulay, DVM
Veterinarian
Meet Dr. Erika Boulay! She grew up in Rochester Massachusetts, she attended Framingham State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She worked as a veterinary technician before moving to the island of St. Kitts to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine; while living there she was passionate about fostering and rehoming animals in need. When not working, Dr. Boulay enjoys being outdoors, camping, gardening, and reading. She loves spending time with her family, friends, and especially her three dogs – Maevis, Penny and Rocko, and two cats – Beatrix and Charlie!Education:

Sandy Higgins, DVM
Veterinarian
Meet Dr. Sandy Higgins! Dr. Higgins recently relocated to Sagamore Beach. After graduating from Mt. Holyoke College in 1986, she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University in 1992. Dr. Higgins has been a veterinarian locally since completing a rigorous internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in 1993.
Dr. Higgins has practiced in the greater Boston area for over 25 years. Before joining us here at Buzzards Bay Veterinary Associates, she practiced at our sister hospital, Dedham Veterinary Associates! We’re so excited to welcome her to the Cape, and she can’t wait to meet you and your pets!

Dr. Higgins enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and kayaking when she is not working. She shares her Sagamore Beach home with two golden retrievers and a cat. She and her husband are always excited to enjoy their favorite hobby together, watching their sons play ice hockey!

Kellie, CVT
Practice Manager/CSR/Surgical and Clinic Technician
Kellie joined our team in March of 2015. She earned her Veterinary Technology degree from Mount Ida College. When not working with us, Kellie enjoys cooking, baking, being outdoors, and spending time with her two dogs and four cats!
Amelia, CVT
CSR/Clinic and Surgical Technician
Amelia joined our team in April 2020. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at St Anselm College majoring in Natural Science and her Veterinary Technician degree at Penn Foster. Besides working with small animals here at BBVA, Amelia also loves working with large animals and goats! When she’s not working or studying, she enjoys reading, baking, knitting, and spending time with her dog, Maverick, and her cat, Ajax.
James, CVT
Clinic and Surgical Technician
James joined our team in May of 2021. He served 3 years in the United States Army. He is studying at New England Institute of Technology majoring in Veterinary Technology. When not working, James enjoys working on cars, playing with his two Australian cattle dogs Callie and Rowdy and spending time with his wife outdoors.
Emily
CSR/Clinic and Surgical Technician
Emily joined our team in September 2021. She studied at Cape Cod Community College and is currently enrolled in Purdue University majoring in Veterinary Technology. Outside of work, Emily enjoys baking and hanging out with family and friends. At home Emily has an English Bulldog- Hazel, along with 6 chickens, 5 bunnies, 4 turkeys, and 4 ducks.
Sonya
CSR/Clinic and Surgical Technician
Sonya joined our team in February of 2022. She earned her Veterinary Assistant Certificate from Cape Cod Tech. She is currently enrolled in Purdue University majoring in Veterinary Technology. Outside of work, she enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her three dogs (Rosie, Honey, and Oscar).
Nelly
CSR
Nelly joined our team in May of 2024. She is currently enrolled at Bristol Community College and in the Veterinary Health Care Program. Outside of work, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her pets, Johnny (the tabby), Muñeca (the yorkie), Melissa (red-slider), and her chickens.
