Pet Insurance
Have you been considering pet insurance for your pet?
We hope the following information helps you make an informed decision.
How does pet insurance work?
Like insurance for humans, deductibles, copayments, premiums, and coverage can vary widely between the different pet policies and companies. The biggest difference between pet insurance and human insurance is that you typically have to pay your veterinary bill in full and wait for the insurance company to reimburse you. However, some pet insurance companies will now pay the veterinary hospital directly, which decreases your upfront out-of-pocket costs.
There are many pet insurance providers to choose from, and we encourage you to research them to select the provider that best meets the specific needs of you and your family. Pet insurance is growing in popularity. According to the North American Pet Health Insurance Association, about 85 million families in the United States owned pets in 2015. Still, only 1.6 million of those pets were insured.
